Healthcare Directive Notarization
Advance directives name who can make medical decisions on your behalf. Michael notarizes these documents on-site so they're ready when needed.
A Healthcare Directive (often paired with a Designation of Healthcare Surrogate) lets a signer name someone to make medical decisions if they become unable to communicate. Florida allows these documents to be either notarized or signed before two witnesses — many families and facilities prefer notarization for the added verification it provides.
Does a healthcare directive need to be notarized in Florida?
Florida law allows a healthcare advance directive to be executed either in the presence of a notary or two witnesses — it does not strictly require notarization. Many people choose notarization anyway because it adds a layer of identity verification that hospitals and facilities readily accept.
Can this be done in a hospital room or memory care unit?
Yes. This is one of the most common settings for this service. Michael brings everything needed to complete the notarization bedside or in a resident's room, working around facility visiting protocols.
What if the patient can't speak but can respond in other ways?
Florida law allows the signer to communicate intent verbally or through clear non-verbal means. If there's uncertainty about how a patient can communicate, mention it when booking so Michael can plan accordingly, and consider completing the Signer Readiness Screening first.
